Harlow Civic Society Chairman Stan Newens presented the trophies to the first winners of the Harlow Architectural Design Awards at the brand-new pavilion of Harlow Cricket Club, which this year staged the Civic Society’s annual general meeting.

The Harlow Architectural Design Awards 2016 were officially launched this week, with a well-attended event at Parndon Mill, Harlow’s creative hub. Local dignitaries including the leader of Harlow District Council, cllr John Clempner, were on hand for the unveiling of two recently-completed award trophies, and to view a new film produced especially for the awards.
Harlow’s unique post-war architecture is to be officially celebrated for the first time, with the launch of a new public competition this month. Organised by Harlow Civic Society and sponsored by Places for People, the Harlow Architectural Design Awards (HADAs) aim to recognise the very best in residential and non-residential buildings in the town, as well as encouraging excellence in the design of Harlow’s future developments.
