Local Artists Jon Lewis and Ewa Wawrzyniak are hand-crafting glass trophies to be presented to winners in both award categories.
Both Jon and Ewa are based at Parndon Mill, Harlow’s creative hub, and have been commissioned by Harlow Civic Society to base their designs on Harlow’s original town hall, with its distinctive barrel vaulted roof.
The award for Non-residential building of the year has been made using glass recovered from one of Harlow’s most iconic post-war buildings, the Pepperpot; and will recreate a number of features from the old town hall.
The architect for the original building was John Graham, who was a partner of Sir Frederick Gibberd’s in the planning of Harlow new town.
